Each year, the Somerville Homeless Coalition (SHC) serves more than 2,000 people through its programming, 30% of who are whom are children. In 2016 alone, 236 individuals were prevented from becoming homeless through their case management and housing program services. Additionally, through programming like Project SOUP, 1,366 people had access to food.
The Wrap Around Project is an annual sale of knitted goods to benefit SHC. Somerville’s homeless population is comprised of elders, single working adults, disabled individuals, and many families with children from newborns to teenagers. The typical homeless family that SHC serves is a mother with two children.
This year, the Nave will host a number of pop-up Wrap Around sales from October through January to promote and support the work of SHC. We hope that you will join us in wrapping our arms around our community.
