WHAT’S HAPPENING:
Nave volunteer Margaret Ryan will be leading a fun mini-mitten knitting and mini-mitten decorating workshop at the Nave Gallery.
It is the goal of the Nave Gallery to knit and decorate 500 mini mittens that can be sold through local Somerville/Cambridge/Arlington businesses to raise awareness and money for the Somerville Homeless Coalition. The mini-mittens can be used as holiday tree ornaments, package gift decorations, to hold gift cards or cash, to decorate the neck of a wine bottle, to string together as a mantle decoration and more. 100 mini- mittens have been created and we need help to decorate and create more.
Join us to knit these fun mini-mittens. Basic knitting skills needed: knit, purl, ribbing, casting on, decreasing. If you are not a knitter we can use your creativity in decorating the mittens with ribbons, bells, buttons, beads, and other items. Bring your own size 7 or 8 knitting needles and any 4 ply yarn you have handy. Tiny end balls of yarn are perfect to combine colors and use up scraps. We do have some yarn and will provide other items needed for the knitting and decorating of the mini-mittens.
