Just a quick note to introduce our new website.
Tori Costa, Nave volunteer, and the team at GREY WOLF DESIGN, have been diligently working to migrate the Nave site into WordPress. Our new site has many important additions, not the least of which is a section for our new exhibition space in Davis Square, the Nave Annex, and a new blog. We expect the complete migration to be done in stages with our priority being current programming and events. Eventually the goal is to move over all of the events the Nave has undertaken over the last almost 9 years–including Project MUM and past exhibitions.
We ask your patience during this process. As an all-volunteer, nonprofit group of talented and creative folks who all are doing many other things, the Nave sometimes makes administrative changes slower than many of you would like to see. We know this and are striving to improve. Some of our links are broken, some of our content needs to be updated or added, but we thought the basic message was ready to be made live.
We are alive and well and producing amazing art events and exhibitions. We now have two spaces; one in Teele Square and one in Davis Square that allow us to showcase the talents of both local and regional artists working in all mediums. We have open calls for entry for artists including the upcoming Salon 21 which will take place during Somerville Open Studios. We are yarnstorming the new Nave Annex as well as trees throughout the city as a fundraising effort for our friends at the Somerville Homeless Coalition. We are working with the Somerville Arts Council on two events – an accordion festival, the SqueezeBox Slam, for Davis Square in June and a public art project tentatively named the Phone Box Art Project that we will be releasing a call for entry shortly.
The art and our community relationships are our priority. We apologize for our less than perfect housekeeping. Let us know about problems with the new site although we ask that you wait until next week as we are probably already working on much of what annoys you. One final comment, and this is the perfect place to add it, we are always looking for volunteers to get involved. Just email us at info@navegallery.org.
