The Nave Gallery Annex (Somerville, MA) invites artists to participate in the juried exhibition Love Shack.
Sex and love and romance.
Red roses, chocolates and ballads.
Monogamy, trust and broken hearts.
Opening Feb. 14, 2014, Love Shack will feature artists exploring themes related specifically to Valentine’s Day and/or more broadly to this thing we call love.
GUIDELINES:
Open to all artists in all media.
Installation proposals are encouraged.
$15 entry fee payable through PayPal.
A maximum of 3 pieces may be entered for consideration.
Submissions will be accepted through January 20, 2014.
The Nave Gallery will retain a 30% commission for work sold.
Artist is responsible for cost of shipping work to and from the gallery.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK:
Send up to three artwork submissions as .jpg files to info[at]navegallery[dot]org.
NOTE: We are experiencing technical issues with our email accounts. If your submission does not go through, please forward to susan[dot]berstler(at)gmail.com.
Each .jpg should be 1200 pixels in the long dimension and named as “#_NAME.jpg” where # is the submission number and NAME is your last name.
Include an image list with your jpeg submission email, indicating submission number, title, size, process and year, as well as a brief artist bio and statement.
There is a $15 submission fee, payable through Paypal. Paypal is available here. Please include “Love Shack” in the memo
Accepted pieces should be delivered to the Nave Gallery Annex located in Davis Square (53 Chester St, Somerville, MA) ready to install.

ABOUT THE JUROR
Bill Kouwenhoven, International Editor of Hotshoe magazine, has brought an independent perspective to photography criticism for more than 15 years in publications such as Photo Metro where he was editor from 1996-2001 and Sf Camerawork where he curated the 25th anniversary show in 1997. Since moving to Berlin in 2002, he has also been a frequent contributor to such varied publications as Afterimage, Aperture, the British Journal of Photography, European Photography, and Photonews as well as contributing to monographs as varied as Ferit Kuyas’s City of Ambition (Schilt Publishing, 2009) on Chongking and the Yangtze River and a catalogue of contemporary Spanish Photography and Video Art, Nuevas Historias (Hatje Cantz, 2008). He lives and works in Berlin and New York. Love Shack is his first venture into the broader field of contemporary art.
