We here at the Nave don’t have a lot of rules; however, one thing we are pretty firm on is our commitment to showing what we consider non-commercial art. We are drawn to the experimental and sometimes quirky high quality work of artists who are not always clearly marketable, at least not in Somerville. And somehow each month we manage to pay our rent based in part on great community support. So, what does this have to do with ducks?
We just ordered a bazillion small ducks to be decorated and sold in December as part of a fundraiser for the Nave. There is a vague tie-in to a planned installation in the main Nave Gallery in November that involves rubber duckies, a yurt and a bathtub.
DETAILS:
If you are interested in donating your talents towards a good cause:
– Let us know and we will send you a duck to decorate
– Pick up a duckie at either the Nave Gallery or Nave Gallery Annex. See the exhibition
schedule for each to learn about our gallery hours
– Sharpies and acrylic paint are best on the duckies
– Please sign the bottom of your duckie
– Return the duckies at either gallery by Dec 1st (though earlier would be better–there may be a slideshow involved for the early birds)
If you have any questions, email us at info(at)navegallery(dot)org.
DUCKY DROP-OFF
Duckies can be dropped off at the Nave Annex in Davis Square on Monday, Dec 2, or Tuesday, Dec 3, from 6-8 pm. If those times don’t work, you can also drop them off at anytime at the Annex–there is a basket in the hall for them.
